Proudly Serving Whitemarsh Township and Surrounding Communities

The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company proudly protects 7,000 people living in an area of 15 square miles. We operate two Engines, a Heavy Rescue, a Tower Ladder, a Field Piece, and a Fire Police Unit out of 1 station that protects a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our highly trained volunteer professionals provide fire service for the largest of three fire districts in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, PA and rescue service for the entire township. Our primary coverage area begins along the Ridge Pike corridor, which includes the communities of Barren Hill, Lafayette Hill, and Marble Hall, and extends to the north and east borders of the township, which include the Flourtown, Fort Washington, Ambler, Broad Axe, and Cold Point communities. Being a western suburb of Philadelphia, our first alarm district is approximately 70% residential and 30% commercial, institutional, and industrial. The Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company responded to 485 fire and rescue emergencies in 2007, and almost 50 special service calls.
We at Barren Hill are always looking for new volunteers to give of their time and effort in our community. It may not be as hard as you think to be a volunteer at the firehouse, as we have many different capacities in which we need help!
